When I try to take pictures of Etta May when she is active, she comes right up to the camera and lick the lens.

February 24, 2012: The Partridge
I was having a hard time coming up with something to photograph today. I was worried I would have to depend on an arms length photo. The light hit the bird in the afternoon and I knew I had something.

My old Archive Photos
When I got my MacBook Pro I found a stash of Old Photos. Over the last few months I have been sorting though the photos to post them on Flickr. Right now I am in the pre-Flickr era of early 2004. I got a new camera in December of 2003 and I was taking photos of everything in 2004. I can tell I was just looking for things to take picture of.
This is not the first time I have tried to post some of these photos to Flickr. The difference is that my ideas about Flickr have changed since then. Right now my idea is to post the maximum number of photos to Flickr. Any photo I took that is not on Flickr is not on my mind. It will not make a blog and I will never think of it again.
In the past I wanted Flickr to highlight my best photography. Now I want Flickr to be a place where all my photography can be seen. It makes Flickr a memory place more than an artist place. I have no problem with that.
When I look at this photos lots of things come to my mind. One think is I am a better photography now. I have learned something about composition and framing. I also know the limits of my camera. I have learned by looking at my photos to put them up on Flickr and by looking at other photos on Flickr.
I want to go back to some of the places I took photos in the past and take photos now. I feel that I could do a much better job.

February 22, 2012: Big Wheel
I wonder how old this sign is. I have no idea how old the Wheel Works chain is. I wonder if it goes back to the 50's.
This is on El Camino Real. I wonder if I passed this when my family traveled California when I was 13 months old.

Juanita got washed today. The dogs are never happy when they get washed. They act like we did something wrong to them.

I have always loved signs. I remember seeing all the pictogram that was being used for the 1984 Olympics. I just wanted to understand all those pictograms.

What is your Pinterest?
I started using Pintrest a few days ago. You can check out my account here and look at my boards. I can best describe Pintrest as a visual social network site. It is kind of tumbler meets a dream board.
Right now Pintrest seems like an interesting too with limited uses. I can see it be useful to a graphic designer or an artist. I can see it be useful to someone doing crafts or putting together a wedding. I just cannot see it be useful to a wide audience.
That being said, maybe this is a new kind of social network. It does not go head to head against Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, or Google+. It does something that none of these other sites can do without changing. It could be an interesting road map for the future.
Facebook is about finding people you know and keeping up with their life. Pinterest is about finding things that are visually interesting and people who have interesting posts. It breaks away from the social networks where you know the people. It is not about the social graph but the interest graph.
If you use Pintrest, let me know what you think.

My first flickr photo
Above is the first photo I ever up loaded to Flickr. I bring this up because today is the 8th anniversary of Flickr. It was introduced to the public on February 10th, 2004. I signed up to flickr May 14, 2004. I only uploaded 6 photos in 2004. I need to go back to my stash of 2004 photos and public more.
I regret not being more active with flickr in 2004. I know I have been active with flickr longer than most people. I just wish I have been active even longer. It is a funny thing.
